As I was reading Bible this week and read words spoken by the Holy Spirit through the apostle Paul, I realized that God in Christ is to us, everything Paul tells us we are to be towards others. Love, all the fruits of the Spirit, exercising forgiveness, kindness, gentleness, meekness, compassion. Being tenderhearted one towards another. Christ is all these things toward us. And this we learn of Him as we yoke up with Him and as we go to Him. As He said, “I am meek and lowly of heart, and you shall find rest for your souls.” Or “…I am gentle and humble in heart,” Matthew 11:29
Christ is that way to us who know Him. The Mighty King is this way to those who know Him. Why. To be the example of how we are to be. This is the sign that we are in Him. That we walk as He walked. And if this great and mighty King walked this way. Lowly and humble. Then we are obligated to walk this way as well. “By this we know that we are in Him: Whoever claims to abide in Him must walk as Jesus walked.” 1 John 2:5, 6
Compassion or Sympathy
Jesus says, “A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.” Luke 6:40 That is our goal. To become fully trained. To grow into the fullness of the measure of the stature of Christ. Or “we mature to the full measure of the stature of Christ.” … “Through knowledge of the Son of God,” (Ephesians 4:13). Not just “knowledge”, but epi-knowledge (epignósis) which is an intensified knowledge gained through first-hand relationship/experience. Peter says,
“Rid yourselves, therefore, of all malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander… SINCE YOU HAVE TASTED THAT THE LORD IS GOOD.” 1 Peter 2:1, 3
Peter is quoting from Psalm 34:8, and the word “good” here is the same exact Greek word Jesus used to describe His yoke in Matthew 11:29. The word is chréstos (Strong’s # 5543), which Strong’s defines as “useful, gentle, pleasant, kind.”
Those who have experienced (“tasted”) that the Lord is “good,” forgiving, loving, kind, merciful, gracious. Then we ought to be like Jesus towards others. If Jesus is truly in you, it will be possible. It might take time, but it will happen if we are striving to do as God commands. Now, Jesus IS this way. And WE must be this way too if we are in Him and He is in us. If this isn’t you, it will be if you go to Him, yoke up with Him, learn of Him. Every day.
“Then Jesus said to all of them, “If anyone would come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross DAILY and follow Me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.” Luke 9:23, 24
“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” 1 John 4:8; “Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore, love is the fulfillment of the law.” Romans 13:10; The goal of our instruction is the love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and a sincere faith.” 1 Timothy 1:5; “and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge,” Ephesians 3:19a
Paul says love is the most important virtue. And John says the same. These spoke by the Holy Spirit. God in Christ.
“Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. Beloved, we are now children of God, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. We know that when Christ appears, we will be like Him, for we will see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.” 1 John 3:1-3
“We will be like Him”
“Therefore, beloved, since we have these promises, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that defiles body and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” 2 Corinthians 7:1
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” James 4:8
Because if we don’t;
“But suppose that servant is wicked and says in his heart, ‘My master will be away a long time.’ And he begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. The master of that servant will come on a day he does not anticipate and at an hour he does not expect. Then he will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 24:48-51
Why does the Lord say this? Because we needed God's love and forgiveness and experienced it. And yet we won't share with others who need God's love and forgiveness. And/or we aren't seeking God with all our heart so He gives us the ability to share His love in a complete, accurate and balanced way. There's no worse crime than that under the sun...
If you haven't yet experienced that the Lord is loving, kind and forgiving, then what are you waiting for? The Lord's hand is outstretched to you. Take His hand and be saved. Accept His death on the cross and the blood that He shed for the forgiveness of your sins. Invite Him into your heart and become born again and filled with His Spirit. If you are truly ready, it will happen. If not, you really need to seek the Lord in prayer and ask Him to reveal Himself to you. And He will reveal Himself to you if you show persistence and sincerity.
I pray for all who read this message. That God opens up your heart even more to His truth. Or if you never experienced Him, I pray you do! In The mighty Name of Jesus I ask the Father. Amen! Thomas Richards
You can be saved!
if you have never repented of your sins and been saved and feel the desire to do so now please say this prayer. This is how I was powerfully saved 20 years ago!
Say, "My Lord and my God, Have mercy on my soul, a sinner, I believe Jesus the Messiah died on the cross and shed His precious blood for the forgiveness of all my sins. I believe God raised Jesus from the dead and Jesus is now on the right hand of God and can hear my prayer at this moment and wants to live through me and give me power to keep His Word. I open up the door of my heart and I invite You into my heart Lord Jesus. Please be my Lord and Savior in every aspect of my life. Thank you God for saving my soul and I vow to serve you with all my heart which is the first and greatest commandment. Amen"
